This year was the first holiday season that we were not planned to fly in to be with our families.  Everyone was a little disappointed, but they knew when we moved so far away that this day would eventually come.  It was just too much to do every year.  Now that we have a baby, it was even more difficult to fly.  But as the day got closer, I was getting homesick.  We rented a caravan to drive home.  It was a long way, but it was easier than driving since we could stop and spend the night in a park.  When we drove up on Christmas morning no one knew who has pulled in the driveway.  They all came out and starting screaming and hugging us when we got out.  Of course, my dad’s first question was, “How much was the Caravan Insurance on that thing?”  Leave it to Dad to be practical.

Normally I don’t like to fly. It makes me feel as though I don’t matter. Everyone usually seems annoyed and like the whole process is a pain for them. The kids will be out of school and my husband and I will be on vacation and we all love to ski so that sounds perfect. My family normally takes a much needed vacation every year. This year we decided to split the cost of our vacation  with my brother in law and his family. I love New York City.  There is so much to do, so much to see, and so much fun to be had.  The days almost disappear when you are in Manhattan, and for nights that you aren’t busy watching a Broadway show, you will always want to head over to a rooftop bar in NYC.  New York never fails to make me feel glamorous with the great little eateries, bars, great shopping, and of course Central Park.  Even the pizza in New York is better.  After a few days of the busy city, I’m always ready to go home, but I know I’ll always be back. 

My sister and new brother in law went to New Zealand for their honeymoon. I thought it was an odd place to go and to be honest, I never had really heard much about it. Well my sister can’t stop raving about it! She and her husband plan to go back on their 5th year anniversary and as often as they can after that.
