brand fragrance, machine scent, branding strategies

There are certain types of brand fragrance, that you might smell, that can inspire amazing memories for you. If you smell baking chocolate chip cookies, you could think of cooking with Grandma, and licking the spoon; if you smell grilled food, you will think of great summers spent eating great food. If you smell chlorine, you might think of warm weather, fun in the sun, and splashing in a pool with friends, and loved ones.

There are so many ways in which brand fragrance, and machine scent, can inspire human beings. A good businessperson must understand the power of brand fragrance, and machine scent, because if you are not taking advantage of the natural human emotional attachment to scent in your branding strategies, then you are actually wasting money.

Let’s mentally compare the branding strategies of two shops in a mall:

Both shops sell flip flops, beach balls, bikini’s, sunglasses and surf stuff. Both of them have items that are of matched, and equal quality. The store designs are almost identical. Imagine you are shopping for a bikini for the summer. You head to one shop, and you see the selection, which is decent, but you want to check all of the stores in the mall first. There is no machine scent in that store.

You go to the second store, and throughout the store is a smell that is somewhat similar to water, chlorine and beachy smells, yet it’s clean and pleasant. You walk over next to the bikinis, and the smell of lightly femininely scented sunblock is subtle in the air. As a customer, you suddenly feel like this store understands summer time, the beach, and the pool more than the other store. This second store is like an authority in a weird way now because of branding strategies. You can’t go wrong buying yoru suit from them right? SOLD!
